Do you already know Conchita Wurst? The bearded singing lady (a drag queen performed by Thomas Neuwirth) brought the media event to Austria by winning last year’s Eurovision Song Contest with “Rise like a Phoenix”. She has also become an icon of Life Ball: For the poster Conchita Wurst was portrayed by Ellen von Unwerth as Klimt’s famous painting “Goldene Adele”.
Life Ball May 16, 2015 – Big event with serious background
The Life Ball annually takes place inside and in front of Vienna City Hall. This spectacular celebration of life and diversity is one of the biggest AIDS charity events in the world. According to the theme of this year’s jubilee “150 years of RINGSTRASSE” the style guide “Ver Sacrum” is inspired by Gustav Klimt and Wiener Secession. Fashion show by Jean Paul Gaultier, celebrity guests Charlize Theron, Mary J. Blige, Kelly Osbourne, Carmen Electra, Dita Von Teese and Paula Abdul.

60th Eurovision Song Contest “Building Bridges”
May 18 – 23 no less than 9 live shows will rock Wiener Stadthalle. Various events throughout town will celebrate Eurovision Song Contest fever till the grand final on May 23. Even if most Song Contest liveshows are already sold out, you can still be part of it: Visit Eurovision Village in front of Vienna City Hall with live public viewing of all shows.
