Tips for outdoor venues in June
Summer is coming and with the hot season there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy Vienna from its outdoor-perspective. Here are our recommendations for your summer stay.
Austria’s capital has much to offer: various sights, interesting exhibitions and museums and a wide range of cultural offers. We from Duschel Apartments love to help our guests find the perfect program for their stay and make their stay in Vienna unforgettable. So here’s what Vienna has to offer beside the state opera, Stephansdom or Schönbrunn Palace.
Green oases in the middle of Vienna
Take your time to visit the hidden green garden restaurants during your stay in Vienna. The Museumsquartier does not only offer a wide program in its museums, it also has numerous cafés and restaurants where you can nicely take a time out. Especially the Glacis Beisl is a hidden spot with an idyllic garden restaurant – it almost makes you forget you are in the middle of the city. We also recommend Restaurant Mill, Das Ulrich and Lucullus.
For everybody who loves to pack a picnic basket and some blankets, there are many parks to spend a chill afternoon. If the weather plays along you can enjoy your picnic at Stadtpark, Belvedere Palace, the spacious Türkenschanzpark or at Augarten. If you are willing to take a trip into the countryside you have to visit Kurpark Oberlaa or the quiet and peaceful park of Laxenburg Palace. For those who want to get high up make sure to visit Vienna’s Donaupark, there you can not only take a time out but also visit the very top of the Danube Tower. With its height of 25 metres you can enjoy a breathtaking view over the city of Vienna.
Public Viewing of the EM 2016
Attention to all soccer fans! From the 10th of June Vienna offers various opportunities to watch the European Championship at public viewing spots. At the town hall square 25.000 people are able to watch every day from 11 am not only the games themselves but documentaries, analysis and interviews with experts. On a 100m²LED canvas and 5 screens fans can share the thrill with their friends. For all of those getting hungry before, during or after the matches, there will be 28 caterer taking care of your physical well-being. Beside the town hall square there are also other spots to enjoy the games outdoors, such as the WUK, Hohe Warte, Altes AKH, Summer Stage, Prater or, for the first time, at Aspern Nord. A really highly recommended public viewing spot is the Strandbar Herrmann at the Donaukanal – make sure you get there early!
